MEET NIGHTHAWK

Hi my name is Daniel Lord or better known by all my scouting friends as "Nighthawk". I have been a Scouter for over 30 years as a youth and an adult leader. I was born and rasied in Arizona for over 20 years. I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where I worked at the Nevada Test Site for over 27 years and retired in 2006. I finally moved out of the desert to Rogersville, Tennessee where I currenty reside.

I currently work with the Las Vegas Area Council since 2006 at Camp Del Webb Adventure Base in Kolob, Utah as the Seasonal Ranger and ASI ATV Director.

In 1988 I was given some campfire ashes from a local Camporee to pass on the tradition. Ever since that day I have been distributing the ashes to each and every campfire I have been associated with. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I noticed a connection to my campfire ashes. Several of my longtime friends noticed it too. We started to research their campfires ashes to find that they have crossed my path along the way. Thanks to several good friends Carl Bylin, Dennis Simon Michael Dyer and others I was able to link their ashes my list. When I was done I found more and more links to my ashes from individuals across the nation. When I was done I found over 6000 links. I am still researching more and more lists. I was honored to have a Scouter from Washington that had ashes he collected from several camps before they were destroyed near Mt. Saint Helens. We introduced his ashes and list into the 2010 National Camp School Program Campfire at Camp Tracy, Utah. One of the largest lists came from a longtime friend Dennis Simon. Dennis had ashes from Del Webb High Adventure Base Summer Camps, Boulder Dam Area Council events, Las Vegas Area Council Events, and Las Vegas Area Council’s Mountain Man Rendezvous. Carl Bylin introduced his ashes list several years ago by giving me my Order of the Arrow campfire ashes I forgot in 1996. There are so many others to thank over the years. Those I met from summer camps all over the west.
